Miss Vulcan 1939

Sit back, relax and watch history come to life in this charming musical, based on the actual 1939 Miss Vulcan pageant and inspired by one of Birmingham's most beloved beauty queens.

Get transported back in time to attend the first (and only) Miss Vulcan pageant and watch as a spectacle of outrageous characters, assisted by a handful of audience participants, bring a (somewhat) true story to the stage. This lively and light-hearted musical will show you that it takes more than looks to be crowned Vulcan's queen!

Presented by Alabama Power, Alabama State Council on the Arts, Birmingham Heart Clinic, Jemison Investment Company, The Lamb Firm LLC, Regions Bank and Southern Progress

Book by Marian Partee
Music by Jan Powell
Lyrics by Noelle Donfeld
