Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music

One of the most beloved musicals of all time, The Sound of Music tells the story of a sweet young girl named Maria sent off to be the governess of Captain von Trapp's seven troublesome children. Through their mutual love of music, the von Trapp family comes to admire Maria. But when the Nazis invade Austria, the whole family is forced to flee their homeland in hopes of finding freedom. With its unforgettable score that includes musical favorites like "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" and "The Lonely Goatherd," The Sound of Music is the perfect family treat!

Music by Richard Rodgers
Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein

Suggested by "The Story of the Trapp Family Singers"

Presented by AT&T and Vulcan Materials Company Foundation

RMTC's Wedding Gift Registry
A wedding registry has been created to support the family’s new venture - The Von Trapp Scenic Shop - which will be opening in Birmingham after their escape from Austria. (Really, these items will go to benefit Red Mountain Theatre Company’s new scene shop!)

Please visit myregistry.com/public/redmountaintheatrecompany or mail your donation to the RMTC Business Office (P.O. Box 278, Birmingham, AL 35201) to help us provide “gifts” to the happy couple. The full amount of each gift purchase is tax deductible.

Special Note: The Thursday, July 22, show will feature a short performance by members of the RMTC Youth Programs, along with special guests, the Rosh Ha'ayin youth performers, who are visiting from Israel through a partnership with the Birmingham Jewish Federation. The house will open at 6:30 PM and the special performance will start at 7:00 PM (July 22 only). The performance of The Sound of Music will still begin at 7:30 PM that evening.

There will be a special cast "talk-back" session directly after the Thursday, July 22, and each Friday night performance of The Sound of Music.
