Carolyn Violi

Before coming to Birmingham as the Director of Music and Youth Programs for Red Mountain Theatre Company, Carolyn Violi's incredible career included the national tour with Disney's production of Beauty and the Beast as Associate Conductor for four years. Aside from enjoying the experience of visiting almost all the major cities in the United States as well as the Canadian cities of Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Regina and Edmonton while on tour with Disney, she's also toured domestically with Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, conducted the national tour of The Goodbye Girl with Eddie Mekka, conducted a chorus for an Oakland A's baseball game, and studied Italian in Florence, Italy as well as Music Technology at Villanova University and Penn State University.

A graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Music Education and Elementary Education, she's educated people of all ages in and around western Pennsylvania and has worked with many theater companies in the Pittsburgh area, most recently conducting the premiere of Bat Boy: The Musical for Pitt University and Pittsburgh Musical Theatre. Often honored with invitations to serve as guest conductor at choral festivals, she received the Citation of Excellence Award for High School Music Teachers by the PA Music Educators Association in 1985. Carolyn conducted Beauty and the Beast in Birmingham in 2002 and was the Musical Director for RMTC production of Annie at the Virginia Samford Theatre in 2004. Before joining the staff of RMTC, Carolyn was a Music Education teacher in western PA and Director of Music at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish in Indiana, PA.
