Spring Workshops

Creative Drama Workshop
This spring workshop takes place every Saturday for six weeks and focuses on developing student actors' creative thinking and writing skills through playwriting and theatre activities. Developed in conjunction with composer Stephen Sondheim's Writing on Your Feet, the Creative Drama Workshop allows students to explore the world of acting, not only as an actor, but as a playwright as well. By acting in and experimenting with scenes they have written themselves, students will develop a better sense of how setting, character, plot and raising the stakes influences the choices we make as actors. This workshop is for students ages 7-18. The cost of the workshop is $300 (financial assistance available).
Students are accepted into the workshop by audition. If you attended the spring workshop in the previous two years, or you are a member of the Youth Programs, you do not have to audition.
This workshop is currently not available for 2010.

Acting Intensive Spring Workshop
Whether you're a professional or a student of acting, it's vital to continue working and improving your performance skills. The Acting Intensive Workshop creates an environment that any actor can work in to explore their craft, ask questions, take risks and play!
This hands-on, participatory class/workshop will allow students to learn warm-up techniques, polish improvisation skills, identify essential acting elements and work on prepared text. Participants should have a (memorized) monologue prepared prior to the workshop, to share at the first session. Participants will then work to incorporate initial critique notes and showcase their revised monologue during the second session. This workshop is limited to 20 participants and is geared towards students ages 11-18. The cost of the workshop is $350 (financial assistance available).
This workshop is currently not available for 2010.
