Jamorris Rivers is Director and Choreographer for AROVA Contemporary Ballet. A native of Dadeville, AL, he trained with Lynn Curtis and Mandy Moore in Opelika, AL. He trained at the Alabama School of Fine Arts summer programs and Southern Union before graduating from The University of Alabama. He has danced with Montgomery Ballet, Southern Danceworks, Alabama Ballet, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Jamorris has performed works by Thor Sutowski, Roger Van Fleteren, Lindsay Nelko, Jorden Morris, Twyla Tharp, Septime Weber, Robert Battle, Teri Weksler, George Balanchine, Jennifer Medina, and Dwight Rhoden. Jamorris has taught at Samford University, Birmingham-Southern College, Alabama Dance Academy, and The Dance Foundation. He attends graduate school at Hollins University’s MFA Dance program. Jamorris is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
